NorthPhil Expo 2013 on tourism, protection of water resources

CLARK FREEPORT -- North Philippines Tourism and Travel Expo (NorthPhil Expo) shifts gear this year as it centers on the role of tourism in the promotion and protection of water resources.

“In support of the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation, we decided to focus our centerpiece event here in the Northern part of archipelago on creating awareness amongst the tourism sector on their responsibility with regards to water management and conservation,” Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Director Ronaldo Tiotuico said.

The November 15-17 occasion shall once again showcase the rich culture and tradition, distinctive products, and picturesque locations of Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Cordillera.

To be held at SM Clark in Pampanga, it will be bannered by the pavilions of the provinces of Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Tarlac; Clark Development Corporation, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority; DOT Regional Offices 1,2,3 and CAR; and corporate booths of various tourism-related businesses such as hotels, resorts and airlines.

Aside from the expo, the three-day affair will also have special events such as It’s More Fun Quiz Bee Challenge, flairtending competition, cultural presentations, corporate game shows, arts and crafts demonstrations, and raffle draws.

“A unique feature of this is our Buyers Meet Sellers Program which is a business matching component where our neighboring countries meet, network, and do business with our own sellers while convincing them to include the Philippines in their tour packages,” Tiotuico added.

The event is co-organized by Association of Tourism Officers of Central Luzon, Philippine Exhibits and Themeparks Corporation, and DOT. (PIA 3)
